Blogfaded

I still love Power Girl and am still reading the titles she is in, but after some honest introspection, I realized that I’ve fallen out of being genuinely interested in blogging about Power Girl. A lot of other things have also crowded out my interest, maybe I’ll pick it up again eventually, or, I still have this domain and may re-purpose the site eventually to shift the focus to perhaps be not just about Power Girl and related characters. For now, thanks for reading, it’s been fun! … Read entire article »

At pretty much every comic book shop across the U.S. and perhaps the world, the monthly Previews catelogue can be found. And it is one of the most important, and fantastic resources for anyone who regularly buys comic books and comic book related stuff. When I first started hanging out regularly at my local comics shop, many others would browse … Read entire article »

Great Power Girl Moments #8 — Mister Terrific #1, p.25

This particular great Power Girl moment displays so amazingly a frustrated Power Girl/Karen Starr, caught in a web of high social drama. From Mister Terrific #1, Karen is at a fundraising party for a presidential candidate, held at the Conscientia Institute – a division of Holt Industries. Michael Holt/Mr. Terrific had invited Karen to join him there. For those less knowledgeable … Read entire article »

For those of you waiting on the edge of your seats for the return of Power Girl – it has come. She has finally come onto the New 52 scene. Action vs. Character Development in the New 52

Action vs. Character Development in the New 52

One of the things standing out greatly to me in the New 52 titles I have followed, and in comics generally, is the interesting approach of either having tons of superficial battle scenes or a race to save the day, OR some really interesting character development. Strangely, Straczynski’s Superman Grounded series is what really got me first started reading comic … Read entire article »

Great Power Girl Moments #7 — JSA Classified #4, p.18

Great Power Girl Moments #7 — JSA Classified #4, p.18

This is another fantastic Power Girl moment. I remember my first time reading this, I so identified with Power Girl. As many of you may know, the history of Power Girl has been convoluted throughout her many tales. This particular instance of telling occurs at the very end of four issues of her trying to figure out who she really is, … Read entire article »

Great Power Girl Moments #6 — Power Girl #7, p.11

This great power girl moment is from Power Girl #7 in which Vartox comes to visit the planet Earth to mate with Power Girl. He has “traversed the cosmos on a mission of love!” Though it does not turn out that they mate in a way that one might imagine, he does eventually mate in her in Power Girl #8, … Read entire article »

Great Power Girl Moments #5 — Power Girl #4, p.4

This is a great Power Girl moment that Power Girl has with Terra or Atlee. Terra had earlier helped Power Girl save New York City from Ultra-Humanite, and now they have buddied up for Power Girl to help her learn the ropes of life as a superhero. In this instance, though, the two of them are out watching a movie together, … Read entire article »

Power Girl in The New 52

Power Girl in The New 52

Where does Power Girl fit into DC Comic’s New 52? I, like many others, have been a bit mystified as to what The New 52 is all about and where Power Girl might fit into the larger picture. Well, I was at my local comic book shop this weekend and got the latest scoop from my fellow readers, and now … Read entire article »

Review of Superman #714

Review of Superman #714

Well, I picked up Superman #714 the final issue of the Straczynski’s Ground series and it ended surprisingly really well. The issue is quite dense in so far as packing a lot in one issue, but not so dense that it hinders a good flow of the story. And it ended in a way that I was completely not expecting. Honestly, … Read entire article »
