Great Power Girl Moments #8 — Mister Terrific #1, p.25

This particular great Power Girl moment displays so amazingly a frustrated Power Girl/Karen Starr, caught in a web of high social drama. From Mister Terrific #1, Karen is at a fundraising party for a presidential candidate, held at the Conscientia Institute – a division of Holt Industries. Michael Holt/Mr. Terrific had invited Karen to join him there. For those less knowledgeable about the larger social situation (see Mister Terrific #1-8 and World’s Finest #1), Karen had … Read entire article »

Review of World’s Finest #1

For those of you waiting on the edge of your seats for the return of Power Girl – it has come. She has finally come onto the New 52 scene. It took them long enough, but it’s wonderful that she is at last back as a major character in a monthly title: World’s Finest. Honestly, I really thought that with this issue, that Superman would hang up his suit for … Read entire article »

They are hoping that this resetting of the numbers to all be #1s will spark a renewed interest in comics generally, but specifically in DC titles. And they … Read entire article »

Action vs. Character Development in the New 52
May 1st, 2012 | Comments Off on Action vs. Character Development in the New 52
One of the things standing out greatly to me in the New 52 titles I have followed, and in comics generally, is the interesting approach of either having tons of superficial battle scenes or a race to save the day, OR some really interesting character development. Strangely, Straczynski’s Superman Grounded series is what really got me first started reading comic books in a serious way due to it’s vivid and far-reaching character exploration. On the weekends, … Read entire article »
